Video games are video computer games played against opponents using game consoles, personal computers, game consoles, or personal computers, generally on the Internet. The word “gamming” originates from the term “playing a game,” which originally meant “to play a game.” Today, most online games are multiplayer games that allow more than two people to interact simultaneously and share a virtual space. The earliest form of online gaming was called “logging in,” to let players log in and participate in a game where they could type in some simple information and experience a game.

Video games change rapidly with the advent of new technologies. One example is the development of massively multiplayer online games or MMOGs. These are very popular, especially among the PC gaming community. These allow many people worldwide to play together and create a storyline for their game in a highly interactive way. Most action games are very multiplayer; they involve groups of people or hundreds of players taking on the same game simultaneously, all to complete the game.

Action games generally involved shooting, fighting, or racing as the primary objective. Although they have different types of mechanics, the purpose remains the same. Action games typically involve a wide range of gameplay elements and have different kinds of objectives and goals. For instance, some first-person shooters put the player inside the environment and allow them to use weapons such as pistols, rifles, and others to kill enemies and solve puzzles. Other genres include first-person tactical games and third-person shooters.

Strategy games give the player a chance to exercise his/her brain through thinking logically and creatively. They usually have the goal of bringing down the opposing armies and playing out the course of the battle in real-time. Some examples of these games include Age of War, Territory War, Fall of Rome, Hardscape, etc. Many strategy games make use of real histories, such as the Fall of Rome and others.

Visual novels or VNs are more recent entrants into the gaming world. Unlike the previous two, graphic novels involve the player’s interaction with the virtual world instead of battling other players in the virtual world. The player solves puzzles or engages in the adventure, making the game more fun than how the human mind works. One of the most popular VNs around is Lemonade Tycoon by Valve Corporation. Not only does it have an excellent storyline, but it also offers a lot of interesting characters that make the gameplay more fun.

Role-playing or RPG games fall under the strategy genre. There are many sub-genres under this category, such as fantasy role-playing and mystery-adventure games. In fantasy role-playing, the player takes the protagonist’s role, going through the game’s events while solving puzzles and engaging in quests. Fantasy RPGs include Final Fantasy, Vagrant Story, Legend of Zelda, and countless others. Mystery-adventures are the opposite of action-adventure games; they are mystery-themed. The player explores the environment and solves the puzzle or has a mysterious character asking questions while trying to escape from the dungeon. Many of these VNs also follow a plotline and follow several characters as they solve the mystery.

Finally, we come to turn-based games or text-based RPGs. The most significant difference between a turn-based game and an action-adventure or strategy game is that you control a character rather than an object in the virtual world in turn-based games. The name has a range of different options, which allow the player to control the characters’ movement, speed, and combat abilities. The most popular text-based VPNs include Secret of Solstice and Dragon’s Eye. A fun fact about this genre is that it has been adapted into an anime TV series, a movie franchise, and several video games.

To conclude, it would be safe to say that VNs and text-based adventure games have a lot in common. Both types of games offer complex plots with many different endings. They both require the player to exert some effort in solving the puzzles or fighting enemies. Lastly, both types of games need players to invest a great deal of time in enjoying them. Although these are just some examples, there are many more VNs and text adventure games available today. As technology progresses, we can expect more innovative games in various categories, including Visual Novels, RPGs, and mystery games.
